June 5 - 9 Week at a Glance

Dear General Currie Families,

As we look back at the week we just had, two words come to mind: 'electric' and 'joyous'!  We are very impressed and proud of our students in grades 6 and 7 who participated in the Charity Market on Wednesday.  The excitement was felt even when just passing the gymnasium.  We witnessed many levels of learning that took place in participating, planning and executing each group project.  Congratulations

, students!  A big thank you to staff who put many hours of planning, preparation and supporting students for this successful event.  We look forward to more Market time this coming Wednesday and are grateful for the funds raised to support charities chosen by our students.

We also celebrated Spirit and Sport by wearing our Tropical Beach wear and colours on Wednesday's Spirit Day in preparation for Sports Day on Friday.  We were happy to see so many of our families at Sports Day!  A big thank you goes out to the Sports Day Teacher team, as well as our Sports Committee Student Leadership team, for planning such a memorable event.  Again, the excitement could be felt throughout the school and on our school grounds all day on Friday.  We are also very proud of our students for showing CARE and Sportsmanship to others throughout the day.  This is what made it such a great success!

June has arrived!  It is the start of National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a time to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis.  We will continue to focus on various themes of learning through the Indigenous lens.  For more information, please click here

June is also Pride month in Canada.  General Currie is an inclusive community and we celebrate the diversity of every one of our students, staff members and parent community each and every day.

We wish our students and staff a happy and productive month of learning and celebrating of learning throughout this final month of the school year.  We thank our families for your continued support and partnership in your child(ren)'s education.

Best wishes for a beautiful weekend!
