What is the connection between "Currie CARES" and growth mindset? 

Intermediate students collaborated to generate ideas about the connection between the Currie Cares model and growth mindset. They articulated important aspects of the CARES model, and shared ideas of what growth mindset means to them. 

Then, in small groups, students gathered phrases generated by their peers and sorted the phrases into 3 different themes. The themes were co-constructed based on the phrases and ideas of students. The 3 themes are: learning, patience, and kindness.

What we noticed: 

• students have a strong connection to the Currie Cares model and can articulate how it applies to social situations and relations 
• students share the connection between helping a friend and trying something new - we're starting to see growth mindset in different ways 

What's next: 

• creating school-wide language about growth mindset & developing shared understanding - fixed mindset phrases vs. growth mindset phrases
