Moving toward the next school year, our students will be diving further into exploring the Pillars of Literacy with a specific focus on comprehension. As a multi-disciplinary team, the Currie staff will be engaging in collaboration with one another to discuss, develop and implement strategies such as:  

• Using picture and context clue to make meaning 

• Telling a story using pictures 

• Connecting to personal feelings/emotions 

• Linking background knowledge to text 

• Making inferences, predictions and comparisons  

As an over-arching theme, our students will continue to work on persistence and a growth mindset to meet their literacy goals. We hope that developing school-wide language will create cohesion and a common understanding of what it means to be a Currie All-Star. We look forward to continuing to shine in the upcoming school year!
